The Vegetarian Butcher is tucked away down a little lane off Hardy St.  Maria is your butcher and started the business to help fill a need she saw – people wanted to each more vegetarian food but the choice in the supermarkets wasn’t there.


“I know some people who think vegetarian cooking is hard, or they don’t know what to cook. But this is an easy way to substitute meat – you can have your normal bangers and mash without any fuss.”

From a stall at the Nelson market once a week the butchery has grown to be open 4 days a week – but still keeping the original market stall alive!
